OUR VISION The Kids Are
Special Here Playground will put safety and convenience first, but not at the
expense of the fun. It will be built over a poured rubber surface,
which is smoother on wheels, gentle in falls, and lasts longer than wood
chips. The playground will have equipment fun for all ages and
mobilities, including: KASH
Playground seeks to provide a fully integrated, universally accessible
playground environment for people of all ages and abilities. Children
with and without disabilities can play together on a colorful play
structure. All children can explore, imagine, create, learn and just
have fun playing with friends. Children with disabilities will no
longer watch from the sidelines as other kids have fun. The
playground will be a centerpiece for our community and by no means will KASH
Playground be a place that only children with special needs will
benefit. Children with disabled parents or grandparents will now have a
place to go together. It is our goal to make KASH Playground a common
place for children and adults of all abilities and backgrounds to come
together, meet, play and embrace the value of diversity within our community. KASH
Playground committee's initial research uncovered that Wisconsin does not
provide much in terms of equal access to playgrounds for both children and
adults with special need, once developed the group intends to use KASH
Playground as a model and source of information for other communities
interested in developing an integrated playground. This information
will be available through a booklet and on the KASH playground web
site. The KASH
Playground budget reflects a 15% increase for future maintenance of the
playground. The money will be setup in an endowment fund and the KASH
Playground Board of directors will determine the use of the funds. |
